Today provides some exciting bike racing for the fans with penultimate stage of the Vuelta and one day race of Paris-Brussels. Robbie McEwen will line up at the start looking for his sixth win at this race. The 219.5km parcours consists of 8 categorized climbs and the finish is slightly uphill. This is one of the oldest one-day races with the biggest names of cycling having won it multiple times. It’s a great addition to anyone’s palmares and we will see a hotly contested sprint finish. I’m surprised to not see Kenny Van Hummel in the start list for Skil Shimano but other usual suspects – Greipel, Galimzyanov, Visconti, Hutarovich – will vie for the sprint finish with Robbie. I don’t see a power breakaway succeeding today but if one does form, Voeckler will be up there.
